Apple has introduced a new privacy protection mechanism which requires special access to be granted to the Futudent Recording software. Without this access, your Futudent camera will only display a black screen when selected. This access must be granted locally on the Mac and requires admin rights to grant it.
Steps to grant camera access to Futudent Recording Software: |
1. Go to System Preferences, then Security & Privacy, then Privacy, then Camera. See the screenshot as below. |
2. Click the "lock" icon to make changes |
3. If Futudent is already shown in the pane, then put a check next to it to enable it. |
4. If not, click the small plus symbol underneath the pane. This opens a Finder window. |
5. Navigate to your Applications folder, select Futudent, and click Open. |
6. Now you should have Futudent listed in the pane and enabled.

Steps to grant microphone access to Futudent Recording software: |
1. Go to System Preferences, then Security & Privacy, then Privacy, then Microphone. |
2. Repeat the above steps (step2-6) |
