The receivers of the ADEE Futudent Scholarships have been chosen

The Association for Dental Education in Europe and Futudent Ltd are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2015/2016 ADEE Futudent Scholarship Programme for the advancement of Video Dentistry in dental education.

This new scholarship programme is aimed at exploring the use of video dentistry in dental teaching and training at undergraduate and post graduate levels and was open to applications from all ADEE members.

 

Three six month scolarships for enhancing dental education

 

ADEE and Futudent were delighted at the volume and calibre of applications which were received from throughout Europe and which covering many aspects of Dental Education. Following evaluation and consideration by the ADEE Scholarship Committee three applications have been awarded complementary use of a state of the art Futudent loupe mounted camera and associated support by Futudent for a period of six months, with possibility for extension to continue their research.

 

The recipients are:

 

1. Valentin Garyga, EDSA, and “Claude Bernard” Lyon 1 University, Lyon, France, currently studying a Doctorate in Dental Surgery and a Master’s in Public Health. Awarded for his project which tests the hypothesis ‘that custom videos about tooth brushing and interdental brushing, made available to the patient via a cloud system, will lead a to better plaque control’.

2. Rachel Green, Newcastle University, UK, Oral Surgey UG training Programme for her project ‘exploring the effectiveness of video dentistry in oral surgery undergraduate teaching with a specific focus on feedback: the Newcastle experience’.

3. Rosa Lopez, University of Aberdeen, UK, for her project exploring ‘blended learning in restorative dentistry and CPD restorative dentistry at the University of Aberdeen the role of loupe to record various practical skills and integrate into blended learning environment’

 

In congratulating the recipients ADEE president Prof Corrado Paganelli stated that both ADEE and Futudent look forward to following the progress of these projects in the coming months and years and their work will feature as update articles in future ADEE newsletters and other media.

Speaking on behalf of Futudent Academic Manager Hans Garritzen congratulated the recipients and all those who submitted. He added that partnerships such as this with ADEE in delivering a meaningful scholarship offering to ADEE members is an important new initiative for Futudent.
